Where have I been? I am not really sure myself and lets face it, I really don't even have a very good excuse for you! Anyway I thought I would do a little summer in review starting out with the 4th of July (I know that was like a year ago now!)

Hailey thoroughly enjoyed herself this year, she awed at every fire work and enjoy all the bright lights and colors.

Makayla was not as excited, but as soon as the fire works really started going she calmed down and was mesmerized.

And she borrowed big sister's sweater.

Hailey

Hailey is officially potty trained. She has been for about a month now and has been doing fabulous. She was being so so so stubborn about it, refusing to even let panties come any where near her, let alone be put on her. But as soon as my sister Shelly and her kids got here and I told her that all of them wear big kid undies she was suddenly excited about also wearing them. I will have to remember to invite Shelly and her kids to town for every big event in Hailey's life that she is being stubbern about! She was even getting up in the middle of the night and calling for me to come take her to go to the bathroom. Than five nights in a row this week she wet the bed. Oh well she is still doing great during the day and that's all I can hope for right now!

Hailey has also just absolutely loved her new friends in town:

Playing at Pioneer Park

Or at the splash park in Castle Rock Park

I think that Hailey has started to really grow up lately. She still has melt-downs and absolutely bad days but she is also starting to learn how to play nicely with friends, share and be kind. A huge Thank You to Shelly and her kids for being so nice to Hailey and such a good example!

Makayla

Makayla is just on the verge of walking. In fact today she took one step by herself. But don't think that by not walking it slows her down in any way. She is the fastest crawler and very good at cruising around on anything that she can get hers hand on, the couches, chairs, the walls, peoples legs, anything! It is funny to see her trying to keep up with the "big kids". They run downstairs and she is right behind them, if they are outside, she starts to scream till I let her go out there with them. If Hailey and the other kids are having fun she wants to be right there in the middle of the action with them.

She is still the baldest baby in like a 100 mile radious but peach fuzz is showing itself. She only has half of one tooth on the bottom, which I find a little alarming, (shouldn't she have about 6 by now?) and she is getting very attached to the blanket that I made her last summer (which I love!).

Last week I was washing her blanket at my Mom's house and when I put it in the drying she went up to the door and stared at it, then she looked up at me and started crying for it. Makayla is going to have to get a lead poisoning test done since we live in a house built before 1950. I am really not look forward to this because they don't just do a little pin prick on the toe, they draw blood from a vein in her inner elbow, I can hear her tears already!

In other news Justin got a new job with Best Buy as a manager. He Just got back tonight from Seattle for some training and will be doing more training in the next few months in various places. I am hoping and praying that he will really love this job and that it will work out well for our family.

Hope your summer is going well and you're all having fun!!

Happy Birthday Hailey!!

This is our first born Hailey Christine Pelton 3 years ago . If someone is sad or crying she will come up to them and pat there back and asked if everything is alright. She then goes out of her way to make them happy.
3. She is scared to death of bugs. I think that she was born with this feature because I remember when she was as young as about 10 months if she saw a bug flying around she would scream and cry and run.
4. She loves sponge Bob square pants, a little too much.
5. She is attached to her blanket. She will not go to sleep without it, even though it does not provide much warmth. And I am not sure that you can really consider it a blanket anymore either...
6. Hailey loves to draw and paint and color. She can color for about an hour and be happy the whole time.
7. She is stubborn. She has to have things her way. She has to get in the car by herself, open doors by herself, everything has to be her way and she will let you know it.
8. A cute thing she says a lot is "can't". For example: "Mommy I can't want to go to bed." "Daddy I can't like that juice." I think that it's so cute that I don't bother to correct her.
9. She has a lot of energy. She just runs around in circles for the fun of it.
10. She loves strawberry milk.
11. She is super cute and becoming a great older sister. Makayla follows her around like a little puppy dog and just adores her.

Birthday weekend

Yesterday we went over to my parents house to celebrate her birthday. Here are some of the great things she got:

A super cute ballerina outfit from Grandma & Grandpa that she has just loved running around in

This will connect to our sprinkler for loads of summer fun.

Here she is blowing out her candles

Here is the cake that I stayed up until 2 in the morning making for her. Last night she told me "Mom I really like birthdays!" A few minutes later Makayla turned and looked at me and this is what I saw. The sad thing is I was sitting there the whole time and didn't even see it happen! I better sharpen up my hearing and eye sight!

Pain in my back

In unrelated news, I have had a lower back injury that I have been dealing with for about a year now. I think I injured it during the end of my pregnancy caring Makayla and Hailey. Some days I can't even get out of bed, I need Justin to come and help me up! (which makes me feel about a hundred years old) After I've been up for about an hour I usually get loose enough that I can manage the pain for the rest of the day. I have been doing physical therapy for about 3 weeks and this last week I got an MRI done. The results came back and it turns out that I have an "annular bulge posteriorly at T11-12 (whatever that means) and a paracentral disk herniation at L5-S1 that displaces the proximal aspect of the right S1 nerver root." Anyway I will have to get a series of epidinal steriod injections which will hopefully help solve this problem (along with the PT). I have really been misserable for a long time now and I've been having to take a lot of Motrin 800's and muscle relaxers. And I am sure my family is tired of hearing me complain about my back too!! So I am actually looking forward to these long needles going into my spine! Anyone out there ever been in this boat?? Or any other injuries that sidelined you for awhile??

We have been taking advantage of the beautiful weather lately and going outside in our yard for picnics and playing. She didn't want to eat, didn't want to play, all she wanted to do in lay in my arms drifting in and out of sleep stairing off into nothing. It turns out that both of her ears are still infected. They gave her some heavy duty antibiotics and we have to take her in next week for a check up. The antibiotics are really annoying because her thrush comes back in full force everytime, but it is really the only way! Anyway we are really enjoying summer-like weather and happy to be getting out of the house! Hope where ever you are that you are having nice weather too!!

Friends Over For Lunch

Today Hailey got all the available "seats" out of her room and all of her largest stuffed animals and had them over for lunch. She has been battling it since she was born and this is her 4th round of meds. She is really old to be getting it still, it's really weird but the Doctor didn't seemed too concerned about it, he said as long as she wasn't still getting it after she turns 1 that it's ok, but I still think it's weird and annoying. We also found out that both of her ears are infected which would explain her fussiness lately and why she had a 102 degree temp on Sunday. Whenever Hailey comes running into the room Makayla gets super excited and starts bouncing up and down, it's really cute. And Hailey must know where Makayla is at all times. Here are two pictures of them having a little girl talk.

Guess who is crawling???
And like a pro I must add. Makayla has been creeping around for about the last month or so, but this last week she is crawling up on all fours and has become quit fast, it has really taken me by surprise, I put her down in one spot and turn my back for 2 seconds and she is clear across the room in no time. Makayla is also pulling herself up on furniture and "cruising" around a bit too.

These next few pictures where actually taken on Easter Weekend that I never got around to posting. Castle Rock park had a huge egg hunt with lots of other activities for the kids to do. Hailey had a lot of fun and everything was free so that is always fun for Mom and Dad. Makayla did this the whole time but had fun watching everything going on.

Hailey's first adventure in a blowup jumpy thing (that is the proper name). She had fun in it for about 2 minutes but it was a cute picture

And last but not least a picture with Grandma. She is coming down this weekend for Easter and we are looking forward to it.

In other news, Hailey will be 3 in June and is refusing to be potty trained. She has gone on the toilet more then once and seemed really excited about it, but for the last month or so she refuses to even look at the toilet. I often find her hidding, witch only means one thing....she is taking a number 2. So I will say to her, "Hailey do you want to go on the toilet like a big girl?" to which she usually says "No Mommy I want to hide to go poop." It is really quit annoying and I just hope she is potty trained before kindergarden.

Makayla is a healthy, thriving 7 month old. She is crawling backwards, sideways but not forwards yet. She is also pulling herself up on things to a standing position. She is very easy to please and is happy most of the time. She is still not sleeping through the night, but hopefully that will be coming soon. Anyway that's what we have been up to lately, have a good day!

Thanksgiving Weekend

We had a great Thanksgiving weekend. I have caught her coloring on the walls, on her doll's faces on her toys and just about anything she can get her hands on. The other day I walked up behind and noticed some scratches on her back...or what I thought was scratches. I turned her around and found this all over the front of her body. I have since given her 2 baths and it has yet to come off. Then this morning when I got her out of bed some how she had gotten a hold of 4 or 5 markers, took the caps off and slept on them causing them to bleed all over her bed, her cutest pj's her wood work, and her blanket. I didn't get a picture (lets just say it didn't put me in the greatest mood) but I managed to get a picture of the red pen incident. So now her body is covered in red pen and huge spots of red and blue and purple. I washed her bedding and pj's twice and it still didn't come all the way out, and it wasn't even permanent marker thank goodness! I guess it will be one more thing that we will have to hide from her!

This is my new favorite picture of Makayla I took this week. Mocha has been very stressed out for the last couple of days, and why you may ask? Because we are getting a new roof on our house and it is SO loud. From 7:30 am to about 4:30 pm they are pounding and pounding and pounding on our house. Mocha has started out each morning barking as soon as they enter our yard, and then starts running from the front door to the back door crying to get out. Honestly it is stressing me out a little too. After about an hour or so she does calm down but just looking at her all day you can tell she is on edge. Here is my best "stressed out dog" picture that I could get.

I felt a little weird about taking pictures of them too up close so I got these two from a distance. They tore down our fence and backed their huge truck onto our yard to throw the old roof off into. This thing is seriously one of my favorite things in the world, anytime she gets fussy I put her in this magical swing and she just calms right down. Anytime I need to cook dinner or help Hailey do something, the swing is my friend. So I would like to thank some special Aunts and Uncles for there thoughtful wonderful gift, the gift of peace and quite, the gift of a little time to get some cleaning or laundry done!

And finally here are some pictures of Hailey doing what she does best, playing in other people's shoes. She LOVES shoes, it starts so young for us girls. I have seriously thought about buying her some play dress-up shoes for Christmas but I fear that she will want to wear them to the grocery store or something and I am not sure that I want to start that war.

Every time she puts them on, she says, "look at me Mama, look at me!" She got three shots and one drink, and cried the rest of the day. She weighed 10 lbs 2 oz which is the 40%, she was 22 1/2 in which is 50% and her head is 15 in which is in the 30%. It's funny, they give you records to take home and keep and I compared hers to Hailey's when Hailey was 8 weeks and Hailey was a whole pound heavier, but everything else was exactly the same. It's funny because Hailey was so small when she was born, 5lbs 11oz compared to Makayla's 7lbs 2oz.
Anyway Makayla was very healthy, exept for her third go around now with thrush. It is quit annoying, she gives it to me, I give it back to her, we just can't seem to get rid of the darn thing! Hopefully another round of pills will kill it for good. Here are some cute pictures of her I took today, she is looking at Daddy who was making her laugh and smile. Makayla is a good little baby and it is getting easier and easier to get a smile out of her!

Power Struggles and Helping Grandpa

Ok for about the last 6 months, Hailey and I have been in this power struggle morning after morning. The struggle you ask?? Letting me come anywhere near her hair. If I would try to even comb it out she was scream and run and hit and take the brush out of my hands, and throw tantrums and do everything in her power to not get her hair done. Many mornings we would leave the house with her long bangs in her eyes or half her hair in a weird sideways hair rubber band. But for about the last week or so she has actually sat down in front of me and patiently let me do her hair. Of course I have to put a cartoon on TV (as you can see in the background) but hey I will take it! So I am no professional hair stylist but I think her two braids came out pretty cute!

Here is Hailey and her "new pose". The one Sunday where it was so important to be on time we were late. (I should mention that it is always important to be on time for church!) Someone in our neighborhood hit a power pole last night and my alarm didn't wake me up at 7:23 like it was suppose to. So when I woke up at ten after eight and saw my alarm clock flashing 12 o'clock I was immediatly thrown into an annoyed panic to get everyone out the door in time. Hailey was being 2 again this morning and wanting to do everything herself which takes an eternity. I was litterally wanting to rip my hair out. At one point I said to her "I will give you a million dollars if you let me put you in your car seat." She looked at me and said "mill dollas?" I don't think my bribe made any impact. It takes us about 15 minutes to get to our building and we made a good effort but were still about ten minutes late. It was really embarrassing. Justin dropped Makayla and I up at the front door, I was running in my high heels carrying the bulky car seat and when I walked into the chapel I felt like everyone was waiting for me. Not the best start to an important day. Anyway my Dad gave her a beautiful blessing and after that it turned out to be a pretty good day. We had lunch at my parents house with all of the Aunts and Uncles and Great Grandparents. Of course I forgot my camera to get a good family picture but here are a few shots I took of Makayla in her dress.

Makayla is almost two months old and still a little on the small side, as you can see in the pictures her stockings are really baggy and falling off of her. She has a lot of fattening up to do!

I just took this one, we always say that she is riding on roller coasters in her dreams.

Huge Update and lots of pictures!

Ok, so I know that I am defiantly not the best at keeping up on my blogs but I am vowing to give it a new effort, since our laptop is finally fixed. Hailey had fun commanding Ashley to run! run! run! By the time we got home Ashley and I were pretty hot from running. Thank you Ashley for going with us and being Hailey's horsey! Every door we went to we would tell Hailey, "ok when they come to the door you need to say trick-or-treat." Hailey would say ok and would practice saying it with us but as soon as the door would open she would just stand there eyes wide and say absolutely nothing. Oh well, maybe next year.

In the last few days and weeks Makayla has become a lot more awake and alert. She has to do everything on her own and on her terms. Like this morning when she woke up and was calling for me to come in and get her. Justin went in, got her out of her crib and put her on the ground. A few seconds later I hear her calling for me crying and went in to see what was wrong. She had climbed back into her crib because she "wanted Mommy to come get me out!" I think I count to 3 about two hundred times a day. "Hailey you have 3 seconds to get in your car seat by yourself or Mommy will do it for you." "Hailey you have 3 seconds to pick out a book or Mommy will do it for you" She is a very good staler. I must say that I have learned a lot of patients since becoming the Mom of a two year old. My Mom and I are always saying that 2 year olds should not be allowed out in public! Other then that though, her vocab is picking up and she says some really funny things sometimes. She loves Makayla, loves to hold her and sing to her and give her big sticky kisses all over her head and face. Makayla is starting to fatten up and actually fit into her 0-3 month old clothing. She is unfortunately not yet sleeping threw the night. She has great head control and like I said is starting to smile and coo. I can't believe she is already 2 months old! Where does the time go? Anyway I hope you enjoyed my update and I will try to keep up on it a little better!

Makayla Pelton

Makayla Anna Pelton

This is Makayla the first day we got home from the hospital. She came very fast, I went in at around 6:30 Friday night (the 5th) and had her at 12:53. My epideral didn't take and it was pretty horrible. I don't know why anyone would choose to go that way, I hated it! She was 7 lbs 2 oz and 19 3/4 long. On her way out she breathed in some liquid and was put in the NICU for the next two and a half days. It was really hard not to be able to hold her for the first 2 days of her life. Sunday night my Dad and my Uncle Cliff came and gave her a blessing and within a half an hour she was taken off of her oxygen. The nurses were amazed that she made such a sudden turn around because since she had been in the NICU she had made no progress. I feel so blessed that I have the gospel in my life!

Here is Hailey holding Makayla. She loves her a little too much sometimes and tends to get extremly excited and poke her eyes and fall on her and force the binkie in her mouth to "make her happy Mama". The other day she was feeding her baby doll the was Mama feeds Makayla. We had a good laugh over it.

Another picture of Makayla. I hope that one day I can grow to be as good a Mom to my children as she has she has been to me and my siblings. My Mother sacrificed so much of her life to her children and to me that is so admirable. Becoming a Mom myself makes me appreciate her that much more, so thank you Mom for all your love, patience, understanding, sense of humor and undying faith, I love you so much, you are the greatest!!

By the way, one more announcement, we are going to blessed with another baby girl!! After a long week of no sleep because of new a prescription, Saturday came and all I wanted was some comfort food. Unfortunately for me, my comfort food is not carrots and cabbage but chocolate and ice cream. Here are some cute pictures of Hailey cleaning up the beaters for me.

Everyday now I am feeling the baby kick and move more and more. It is such an exciting time to feel that connection. Some days I wake up and feel like I have added two inches to my waistline, more and more I can feel the stretching pains in my sides and behind my belly button. The good news is that next Tuesday marks my half-way point, and I have to say that even though I still get sick a lot this pregnancy so far has gone by fairly quickly, lets hope the second half, which is the harder half, will go by quickly too! So have a good week everyone, and have some guilty pleasure too, for me!!

Daddy's little helper

Lately Hailey has been really into helping us around the house.
She loves to stir things, pour things and she seems to really even love
cleaning things, which hey is fine with me!
Justin is cutting up some polish dogs to make some
jumbolyia (sp?) and Hailey is right there with her little helping hands!
She truly gets so excited and feels so important to be helping us out.

Here she is stirring them, don't worry the stove was not even
hot yet and we were both standing right there to make sure
nothing dissaterus happened.

pouring some oil with Daddy

Bulls-eye

Today I decided to go out on a nice walk, and take Hailey down to the park that is about half a mile from our house. I put her in her stroller, opened my front door and went outside. As I turned around to shut my door, out of the corner of my eye I saw her stroller starting to roll down the three cement steps I try to grab it but it was too late. Her stroller went face first with poor little Hailey right onto the cement sidewalk. It is the worst feeling in the world to see your child get hurt, and when you know that it is from your own stupidity that makes it about ten times worse! She actually only cried for about a minute and got right back in and off to the park we went. She played just fine and had a lot of fun, but as the day went on I noticed that her forehead was getting more and more purple. The picture does not do it justice! It is a nice little goose egg. I still feel so bad, but it is always amazing to me how resilant little kids can really be.

Doctors appointment

Tuesday of this week I went to my 4 month appointment. I am about 18 weeks along now and finally starting to show and feel the baby move some. My Doc did just a short ultra-sound since they have one in their office and it wasn't being used. She said that the baby looks very big and healthy. She couldn't see if it was a girl or a boy, but we will have our "real" ultra sound at the beginning of May when the measure it and do all those fun test. It is always so nice to actually see the baby on an ultra sound, I feel like being sick all the time is really worth it!!

Easter weekend

Ok this first picture of Hailey is her new hair-do. This is one of the first holidays
that Hailey got really excited about and that made it a lot of fun.
We colored eggs on Friday night and she had a lot of fun
dropping the eggs in the cups and then putting stickers on them.

The actual Easter egg hunt was by far the most exciting part. When
she saw eggs all over the room her face lit up. Every time she found
another egg she would say "EGG!!" pick up one egg at a time and
put them in her basket and say "two", every egg was two,
apparently that is the only number she's picked up on.

Here is a picture of her finding another egg.

Unfortunately, my camera was not being very nice to me and those
were the only decent pictures I got. Justin got the whole weekend off,
which is a first in a long time, he has been working about 60 hours
a week! It was really nice to be together as a family this whole weekend!
So Easter was really fun for us and Hailey has had a blast eating hard boiled
eggs in some form for every meal since! Grandma and Grandpa Jones
got her such a cute little dress, I am going to have to get a new picture of her wearing
it and get it posted, the ones I got did not turn out well. Anyway fun fun
weekend, how was yours?

Offical Due-Date

Yesterday I went and got my first ultra sound. We weren't sure how far along we were so the Doctors and I talked about it and guessed I was about 8 weeks, 5 days. To be sure they decided to do an ultra sound, I am officially 10 weeks and 3 days which puts my due due date at September 16, 2008. I got a whole week and a half farther along in one day, I wish the rest of my pregnancy could go that fast! It was so neat to see the baby, it just makes everything so real! It is amazing how human he/she already is, you could see he/she moving, kicking her legs, you could see her profile, nose and everything, you could also see her heart beat, which was 169 beats a minute, so if the wise tales are true, it may be a girl?? Everything looked really good though and we are really excited.

Hailey Pelton: Nudist?

So Hailey seems to be already well into her terrible twos, how lucky am I? She can be very demanding and often times throw temper tantrums wherever she feels like it. Lately she refuses to wear her clothes, it can take me a good 1/2 hour to get her dressed to go somewhere, when it should take no more then 2 minutes. If I come near her with a shirt or any article of clothing she runs, scream, kicks, throw a fist or two, takes off what I put on her, cries, anything to not wear her clothes. As soon as she gets up in the morning she demands to have her pjs off immediately. Most of the time when we are home I let her have her way, I know push over right? So my question is do you have any suggestions on how to make her want to wear her clothes? Is this an impossible question?
Here are a few pictures of Hailey, the first she is playing with our Guitar hero guitar, being the little nudist that she is. The second one she was listening to some music with Daddy's head phones and dancing, in clothes I know, I thought the picture was so cute.

Tagged

My sister "tagged" me like 2 weeks ago, and I am just getting around to it, so here we go, everything you probably didn't really care to know about me!

1. The Doctor came in, sat down and said,
"oh, she has a ruptured eardrum". I looked down and realized
that all over Hailey's hair, ear, neck and check was yucky
goop. She had woken up that morning at about 4:20 and
scream and cried until about 6:45. Now it all made sense.

Here she is right before we took her in.

Here she is just the next day still running a
slight fever but obviously feeling much better.
She was rubbing her doll's back and saying
shh shh to her, it was pretty cute.

Today the fever so far is gone and she seems pretty much back to
normal, playing with her toys and being chatty again.
She still has a lot of goop coming out of it but she doing
pretty well, hopefully tomorrow we can get out of the house!

Still Sick

So Hailey is still really sick. She actually had a big turn around
Tuesday, and Wednesday but when Friday hit she started running
a big fever. Saturday night at 10:00 I finally decided to take her into the
walk-in clinic, because she had been pointing and pulling at her ear all day,
I figured she must have had an ear infection, but the Doctor said no.
Her fever was 103.5 and it has been consitantly so since.

So today Grandma J. brought Hailey over a very cute balloon that
says "Get Well Soon" and some fudgicles. The fudge bar is one
of the few things I have been able to get her to eat in the last 3
days. She had been holding the balloon
all day and actually smiled a few times when the cat went after it, thank you
Grandma! Hailey has been truly miserable
this last weekend, the Dr. said it is just a nasty virus that is going around and she
should be better in 3-5 days. She really has no symptoms, a little bit of a runny
nose, she was throwing up a week ago, but not this last weekend. If she
doesn't have some kind of turn around tomorrow I think we will
take her into our family Doctor. I just wish I could do more for her,
it really rips my heart out to see her like this!

Sick Babies are no fun

Hailey has not been acting like herself for a few days.
she has really not eaten any thing for four days now, all
she will drinks is milk. Than last night we put her to bed at 8:30
and she woke up about once an hour. At 11:30 she got into
bed with us and after 2 seconds of being there, she threw up
the most sour chunky milk all over herself, me and our bed,
it was so gross, I almost threw up on her in return! I feel so bad
for her, and I really don't know how to help her, especially since she doesn't
have enough vocab yet to tell me, trust me, sick babies are no fun!
